Drain the cherries and collect the juice. Mix 5 tablespoons cherry juice, vanillin sugar and sauce powder until smooth. Bring the remaining cherry juice to the boil. Stir in the sauce powder and bring to the boil again. Fold in the cherries. Let the compote cool down
